Macbeth + macdeath: a coda
(dramaturg // writer)
Only a great poet knows that the word “incarnadine” belongs to “multitudinous seas”
macdeath: a coda is a postcolonial accompaniment to Shakespeare's Macbeth. macdeath deconstructs, interrupts, and destructs. macdeath considers language & narrative, displaying the traces of a 400 year old tale on contemporary life and politics.
macdeath: a coda was developed for a diverse ensemble cast of 16, but can be adapted for a cast of any size. macdeath consists of seven short scenes that retrace, reframe, and ultimately shred apart the production of Macbeth that precedes it.
